St Mary's Catholic Primary Schools Trust

Year 2

21st March 2025

Dear Parents/Carers,

Our Celebration Assembly

Our Stars of the Week are: Francis in St Francis Class and Jalisa in St Martin Class.

Our awards for St Mary’s Way go to: Michela St Martin Class and Emily in St Francis Class

What a spectacular performance the Music Concert at Fairfield Halls on Tuesday 18th March was! Like us, I’m sure you were very proud of your child.  Thank you for all the support you gave in getting us to that final achievement and we’re sure we will all remember it for many more years to come!

Religious Education: Opportunities

We have been learning about Maundy Thursday and The Last Supper.  When you go to Church, please draw your child’s attention to the consecration as these are the same words that Jesus used during the Last Supper.

Home learning:

Remember the Lenten promises that you made at the beginning of Lent.  Are you still trying to carry them out? Take stock and continue on the Lenten journey doing good deeds and being kind and loving to one another.

Phonics

                  ee

deep, seed, feed, bee, need, tree, knee, sheep, feet, street

High frequency words, some of which are not phonetic and just have to be learnt by sight:

she, this, have, went , down,

Please write a sentence for each word with a capital letter and full stop.  Add a conjunction such as ‘and’ ‘because’ ‘or’ ‘so’ ‘but.’  We are focussing on writing sentences with detail by adding adjectives.

Focus on neat handwriting too.

We learnt that a seed needs water, light and soil to germinate and grow into a healthy plant.

English: I am the Seed that Grew the Tree By Fiona Waters (Non-Fiction Text)

The above text is a Poetry book and we will be reading the beautiful poems in this book and learning about what poems are, how they are written (stanzas) and learn how to write our own poems.
