Following our visit to the Croydon Memorial, we have been writing our ow prayers for those who served in the wars and for peace around the World.

Phonics:

We will be revisiting Phase 5 sounds building on the children’s phonic awareness and decoding skills.

Spellings to practise are linked to the Phonics scheme:

car, jar, far, bar, star, art, park, shark, start, part, mark, farm,

English: Our new book: A Hero Called Wolf

We have begun looking at the book A Hero Called Wolf and our theme is looking at fiction books about Wolves.

We have been looking at other famous stories that we know have a Wolf as a character and how these Wolves are generally depicted. In these stories, they are generally ‘mean.’

In Geography the children have also been introduced to the Arctic Wolf and North Pole, their natural Habitat and now in contrast we have been learning about The African Wolf that lives in North Africa on the Equator.

Maths: Addition and Subtraction

We are learning to subtract across a ten through problem solving.  We use RUCSAC to do this.

Read, Underline, Choose (the operation,) Solve, Answer (the question,) Check.

The link below shows you what subtracting across a Ten looks like.  In class we use a Place value board with manipulatives (apparatus) to help us.
