6th December 2024

Dear Parents / Carers,

As we enter this special time of year, our thoughts turn to HOPE. We have lit the first candle on our Advent Wreath and the children have been reflecting on their hopes and dreams for our wonderful world. Together, we offered a prayer to guide us in becoming the best versions of ourselves as we prepare for the coming of Jesus. Let us all take time to consider how we can strive to be our best selves and, in doing so, bring hope and support to others in their lives.

As you know, next week is Nativity Week, and all the teachers are eagerly hoping for successful performances! Each year group has worked incredibly hard over the past few weeks, perfecting their singing, dancing, and narrating. We are so proud of their efforts, and we know you will feel the same.

A gentle reminder: to ensure everyone can fully enjoy the performances, there will be no video recording or photography allowed during your child’s nativity play. Rest assured, we will record the performance and provide you with a copy to download and enjoy at home. This way you can relax, watch, and fully appreciate the moment without the worry of capturing it on camera.

 Christmas Cards

Christmas cards can be very expensive and a time-consuming thing to consider each year. A good idea is that the money you spend on Christmas cards could instead be spent on your children or give the money to a charity of your choice. This term we have been looking at the principle in ‘Catholic Social Teaching’ – of how we can help our local community and others further afield in other countries around the world.

By giving our money to charity, rather than buying cards, we are giving to the wider community. Maybe you can put on Seesaw what charity you gave to and we can add it to our Catholic Social Teaching display board in the hall to show who we have supported in the community.

However, we also understand it is important to some people to send cards.  If you do wish to send cards please ensure that you get your child to write them themselves and bring them into school by Friday 13th December at the latest. That way it gives staff time to sort and deliver them.

Golden Table

I had the pleasure of having lunch with another 6 children with wonderful table manners.

This week I was joined by:

 Austin in St Andrew Class

 Raychel in St George Class

 Skylar in St Bernadette Class

Zephaniah in St Therese Class

Yayra in St Francis Class

Evan in St Martin Class

It was clear that these six children have good table manners- they were telling me what they like to eat at home & who does all the cooking in the house.

“In this second week of Advent, we ask for the grace to prepare ourselves with faith to celebrate Christmas”

Pope Francis

Dear Lord Jesus,

Please help us to prepare our hearts to receive and to share more of your love as Christmas approaches.

Amen
